Dermal Fillers
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that can be used to subtly restore volume loss associated with ageing, gently enhance existing features and correct facial asymmetry.
Filler injections are used to reduce the appearance of age-related changes to the face, neck, body and hands and treatment by an experienced doctor can produce beautiful and natural results.
Treatments we may perform include cheek enhancement, correction of under-eye hollowing (“tear trough filler”) chin and jawline enhancement, volume replacement in the temples and lip augmentation. Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive, same day treatment that gives immediate results with minimal downtime.
Results last 6-24 months depending on the treatment performed.
Products used by The Face Clinic Edinburgh
At The Face Clinic, we use market leading dermal fillers made from Hyaluronic Acid, something found naturally in our skin. This provides a safe option to restore volume loss and enhance your features. Over time, the Hyaluronic Acid filler is slowly broken down by the body and the treatment can be repeated, if desired.
Our clinical director, Dr Ben, is also experienced in the use of Radiesse - a collagen-stimulating dermal filler made from calcium microspheres. This innovative product can be used as a dermal filler, or used as a skin-tightening and lifting treatment in the face, neck, hands or on the body.
What happens during and after your treatment
At The Face Clinic we carry out a full medical assessment prior to any treatment to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you. A dermal filler treatment takes 30-60 minutes and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic and a topical numbing cream is used to make the treatment as comfortable and pain-free as possible. After a dermal filler treatment some mild bruising and swelling may occur. This will resolve within a few days.
